Public Consultation, Community Engagement and Research

Public Consultation and Community Engagement play a major part in the Planning process – as legislative requirements, as well as an important component in developing a successful planning project. Equally, having quality baseline data and an understanding of current trends, community expectations and values are an important component of a good project.

Planz Town Planning can facilitate one off meetings through to a broad range of Public Consultation and Community Engagement activities including workshops, visioning exercises, drop in days, media releases, regular segments in the local paper, and web site content.

Planz Town Planning is experienced in project specific research, preparing and undertaking surveys, data analysis and report writing to inform policy direction, elected representatives and the wider community.

 

Training and workshop facilitation

Nikki has a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and is engaged by the Local Government Association of Queensland as the online educator for the Cert IV in Local Government (Planning).

Nikki has a commitment to continuous learning and mentoring and has extensive experience in chairing and presenting at workshops, seminars and conferences. Nikki is an adjunct lecturer at JCU, and mentors students in Planning. Nikki has chaired workshops on sensitive environmental issues through to informative seminars for the Planning institute of Australia.

 

Corporate Planning / Change Management 

Corporate planning is an overarching process used to assist councils and communities plan for the future and realise their vision.  It is a continuous process for identifying intended future outcomes, how outcomes are to be achieved, and how success will be measured.

Change management is the process used to assist individuals, teams and organisations to transition from a current situation to a new situation.  There are similarities between change management and corporate and strategic planning.

Planz Town Planning offers a range of services in this area including:

• Preparation of local government corporate plans including disaster management plans and risk management plans
• Provision of change management support and advice
• Identify key change champions to drive the change process
